The Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Director in Davao del Norte, Romeo Castañaga, has advised businesses to innovate ways to maximize earnings amidst the limitations brought by the pandemic.

Castañaga’s advise came about during Kapihan sa DavNor on Feb. 17 as the Tagum City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Incorporated (TCCCII) expressed desire for the lifting of restrictions in the city.

“Mag innovate siguro ta, maging creative, like karon naa tay mga food delivery or kanang drive thru which will also translate into sales ,” he said.

In addition to this, he suggested for businesses to maximize the online platform or e-commerce.

“So kung ang imong business is naa didto sa negative list o na apektohan, ang suggestion namo is adopt new technology tingali pwede nimo ma tweak siya para maka serve gihapon ka sa imong clientele,” he added.

Pretexting Castañaga’s suggestions, the TCCCII described the status of businesses in the city.

“Nag pait, nag lisod ang mga negosyante karon sa tinuod lang kay the fact nga naa gihapon ni ang mga restrictions tungod sa health protocols. Dako kaayong apekto sa atong mga negosyante ,” said Nenita Malbas, CPA Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA)-Tagum City / TCCCII representative.

“Actually nag prepare na mi ug formal jud nga resolution nga e lift up naming daghang bawal (Actually we’ve already prepared a formal resolution requesting to lift the many restrictions),” CPA VF Agunod Accounting Firm-TCCCII Former President, Virgilio Agunod, said.

He added that this move was driven by the current capacity limitations which do not allow for enough revenue to cover the overhead costs of service businesses.
