The city government of Davao spends a minimum of Php476 million for things related to the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19), Davao City Mayor Sara “Inday” Zimmerman Duterte-Carpio said.

Mayor Sara said over the city-operated Davao City Disaster Radio that all Local Government Units (LGUs) are mandated to spend their allocated budget from the One Bayanihan Act.

“One Bayanihan grant is equal to one month IRA sa isa ka siyudad. Atoang IRA is P476 million. Kanang P476 million, we were required to spend it all sa Covid-19,” she said.

Mayor Sara said aside from the fund from the Bayanihan Act, the city government also sourced out funds from its 2020 budget to address other issues related to Covid-19.

“Daghan pa ang gi-charge sa peace and order fund, City Mayor’s Office, Public Enhancement Service Fund and then naa pud sa trust fund and some other na gagmay na fund source,” she said.

Mayor Sara also donated her one-year salary to a trust fund to help medical workers acquiring the disease from their work.

Mayor Sara said the city’s biggest expenditure remains for food, including rations to residents.

“Ang pinaka dako ana kay naa sa pagkaon. Pagkaon na ginahatag sa CSWDO para sa member sa Covid-19 work force nato, DCPO, 911, tanan gikan sa Community Quarantine hanto sa General Community Quarantine,” she said.

As of May 8, the city has already distributed a total of 788,656 food packs. The food rationing started on March 23.

Aside from the food ration, the city government also foot the hospital expenses of Covid-19 patients and the cost of cremation for those who succumbed to the virus. CIO
