Davao City –   The Davao City government will run a baseline swabbing for all vendors, masseuse, and security personnel of the Roxas Night Market to ensure the safety of the public against the coronavirus when the night market re-opens by the third week of the month.

“Ang intention sa baseline swabbing is to make sure na pag re-open, walay positive dinha nga nasagol and maka-infect og mga tao nga mag adto sa Roxas Night Market (The intention of baseline swabbing is to ensure there is no positive case that can infect people going to the Roxas Night Market),” Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said on Tuesday’s broadcast of the Davao City Disaster Radio.

Mayor Sara said the city only allows vendors on rotation every two weeks. Only 25 percent of the total number of vendors and masseuse are allowed to operate when the market re-opens this month.

And, each new batch of vendors will be swabbed before they will be allowed to operate at the night market, she added.

The city government will also strictly implement the minimum health protocols such as wearing face masks, physical distancing, handwashing, and the provision of footbath stations.

Also, Task Force Davao Commander Consolito Yecla said his command is planning to put up a facial recognition area for the security and safety of the people at the night market.

“They will be required to lower down their face masks for recognition in the inspection area with transparent barriers,” he said.

The TF Davao has also conducted security and safety orientation with vendors and the barangay officials where the night market belongs.

The security forces have also assigned a secured parking area for motorcycles. (City Information Office)
