Davao City – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio bared the local efforts to ensure that the drug problem is addressed through its commitment to ensure a drug-free workplace.
She said recently some employees of the city government were apprehended by authorities for selling drugs.
Duterte-Carpio thanked the Davao City Police Office and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for the apprehension of two city government employees but urged these agencies to deepen their investigation on the involvement of some city employees who venture on illegal drugs.
“The positive note is that the authorities have identified them,” she said.
Duterte-Carpio bared that five personnel are also found by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council positive for drug-use following the drug tests conducted on them.
She stressed that the local government clamps on illegal drugs because it does not want that salaries of the people to only fuel the drug habit.
Duterte-Carpio said employees involved in drug use must be included in the community based anti-drug abuse program aimed at reducing the drug-abuse in the city given that drug abuse is one of the root causes of crimes in the city.
She said the latest accomplishment of the Task Force Davao is the latest apprehension of ₱ 4.7-Million-worth of drugs discovered by a government militia.
