Davao City:  The Davao City government has already rolled out a total of four food relief programs for Dabawenyos affected by the preventive measures during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte bared on Wednesday that Davao City’s four (4) food programs – the food ration run by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the Agri-food Program jointly implemented by the City Agriculturist Office (CAO) and City Veterinarian’s Office (CVO), the Hot Meals (Lomi and Lugaw) on Wheels program, and the barangay rice distribution program ration that are all currently ongoing.

Under the food ration program, the CSWDO already distributed 292,782 packs of the total 350,000 packages for the barangays. The remaining food packs will be distributed on Thursday, April 9, 2020, or Saturday, April 11, 2020. The beneficiaries hold a Ration Card to receive the relief.

On the other hand, Dabawenyos without the Ration Card will be given the Agri-Food Card for the agri-food assistance. This way, the government resources are maximized and no Dabawenyos will be left out in food assistance during the ECQ.

The Barangay and Cultural Communities Affairs Division (BCCAD) is running the hot meals program for 98 villages in the City. BCCAD through the barangay leaders serves the hot meals daily at 10 a.m and 5 p.m.

Mayor Sara bared that the city government is also set to download sacks of rice to the barangays. Under this program, each barangay receives 100 sacks of rice. They will initially receive 20 sacks to be distributed to the residents.

She assured all the 182 barangays will receive the rice assistance. The mayor, however, clarified that residents should check the source of rice because some barangays also rolled out their rice assistance to their residents using their respective resources.

“Before ta nagdownload sa mga rice sacks sa mga barangay, duna na gyu’y mga barangay pud na nag-una na sa ilang effort sa panghatag ug ilahang hinabang didto pud sa mga tao because ang barangay duna pud na sila’y budget nga ilahang kaugalingon and duna pud na sila’y mga donors (Before we downloaded sacks of rice to the barangays there were already barangay officials who initiated their rice assistance to the people because barangays also have budget and donors of their own),” Mayor Sara said.
