Davao City:   The Davao City government has extended the deadline for the payment of real property and business tax payment until June 30, 2020, given the continued movement restrictions under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte announced this on Friday with an assurance that no interest and surcharges will be charged to taxpayers within the grace/extended period.

She further said that property owners will be offered tax discounts depending on their payment of the Real Property Tax (RPT).

“Kung magbayad ka in full, 20 percent ang imohang discount, kung first quarter lang imong bayaran 10 percent lang ang imohang discount (If you pay in full, you will be given a 20 percent discount and if you pay only for the first quarter, your discount is 10 percent),” she said.

For the business taxpayers, the mayor said, they can also pay their second quarterly installment within the given grace period free of any charge.

Under Section 82 of Ordinance No. 0291-17, or the 2017 Revenue Code of Davao City, taxpayers are mandated to pay quarterly installment for the local business tax within the first 20 days of January, April, July, and October of each year.

Due to the lockdowns and movement restriction during the coronavirus pandemic, the city government offered a grace period for real property and business owners to pay their tax dues. CIO
