The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental-South has partnered with the Central Philippines State University (CPSU) to boost the implementation of the agency’s programs and projects.

“We decided to team up with the CPSU to strengthen the agency’s information, education, and communication strategies to reach a wider scope of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs),” Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer I Enrique Paderes said in a statement recently.

The collaboration will be formalized with the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the two institutions on Jan. 27.

Initial talks began during Paderes’ meeting with the school officials led by CPSU president Dr. Aladino Moraca at the university’s main campus in Kabankalan City on Wednesday.

Both institutions laid down their respective projects and programs to be undertaken through the collaboration.

“We encourage various sectors to continue giving their support for us to improve the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) in Negros Occidental,” Paderes said.

One of the joint initiatives is the airing of DAR Negros Occidental-South’s radio program called “Radyo Agraryo” over CPSU’s Radyo Muscovado.

The Radyo Agraryo will feature the agency’s various support services and programs designed to uplift the lives of the farmer-beneficiaries and their respective organizations.

It will also help the agency boost its rapport with the public by giving them easy and faster access to information about the agrarian reform program.

Moraca said he considers the CPSU’s partnership with DAR as a breakthrough for both government institutions in promoting the best interest of the public.

“This initiative is a welcome development for our institution especially with CPSU aiming to become a leading institution in local and global development through instruction, research, extension, and production with effective partnerships among other stakeholders,” he added.

Other proposed programs include the formation of ARBs and Students’ Agraryo Trainers and Broadcasters Guild, Youth Carp Warriors, the conduct of non-academic activities for the students and youth to appreciate the importance of agrarian reform and agriculture.

Also, the DAR and CPSU will partner for the drafting and launching of the training modules both for ARBs and non-ARBs such as Agri-Tekno Komiks, Titulo Dos, and The Southern Echo. (Erwin Nicavera via pna, photo by pna)
