The Davao City Health Office (CHO) along with the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 has intensified its information dissemination on the COVID-19 vaccination program in the city.

Acting City Health Office head, Dr. Ashley Lopez on Thursday, February 18, during the COVID-19 Alert program on Davao City Disaster Radio, encouraged everyone to participate in the immunization program of the city against the highly infectious respiratory disease.

“We don’t want to be left out. We advise everybody, ilabina tong mga indicated nga magpabakuna katong mga frontliners, mga kabilang sa A, B and C groups. We have to participate kay importante ni,” Lopez said.

Priority eligible group A includes the public and private health workers, senior citizens, and uniformed personnel while other government workers and essential workers are listed under priority group B. The rest of the population is under priority group C.

Moreover, Lopez dispelled false claims against the effects of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Get rid of the false claims against COVID-19 vaccine. Dili ta maminaw basta-basta ilabina tong mga negative. Because, kung ikumpara nimo ang benefits sa COVID-19 vaccine, taas kaayo kumpara sa atong ginatawag nga adverse effects,” he said.

The city government of Davao is now stepping up its information campaign to address vaccine hesitancy ahead of its rollout, which is targeted sometime in the second or third quarter this year.

“We need this one because this is the only remedy. This is the only solution para ma-control nato atong COVID-19 infection and eventually eliminate this virus in our country,” the city health chief said.

Meanwhile, on the same day, the CHO conducted massive education information on COVID-19 and the benefits of vaccination online, highlighting the raising of awareness on the COVID-19 relative to transmission and prevention.

Health authorities are reminding the public to maintain observing the minimum health standards by wearing face masks and face shields, physical distancing, and frequent hand washing using soap. (City Information Office | Michael Manguhig, RPN DXKT Davao OIC)
