CIDG Arrests Price Act Violators In Bankerohan Market

Davao City:  The Criminal Investigation and Dectection Group – Davao City Field Unit (CIDG DCFU) arrested three individuals on April 20,2020 for violating RA 7581 or the Price Act of 1992 as amended by RA 10623 and RA 11332 in an entrapment operation in Farmers Market, Bankerohan, Davao City.

The CIDG team with the San Pedro Police Station, and in coordination with DTI-XI and DA-XI representatives, conducted the simultaneous entrapment operation which covered three stalls inside the public market that resulted in the arrest of three suspects for selling overpriced calamansi.

Suspect No 1 was caught with 12 sacks (26 kls/sack) of calamansi. The SRP for calamansi is priced at P39 per kilo but the suspect was selling it at P60 per kilo.The estimated market value is P12,168.00. He also had 1 bundle of boodle money with one piece of genuine 500-peso bill with the serial number. HL994649.

Suspect No 2 was caught with 10 sacks (26 kls/sack) of calamansi. The suspect was also selling it at P60 per kilo. The estimated market value is P10, 140.00. He also had 1 bundle of boodle money with one piece of genuine 500-peso bill with the serial number. JB605077.

Suspect No 3 was caught with 4 sacks (26 kls/sack) of calamansi. The suspect was also selling it at P60 per kilo. The estimated market value is P4, 056.00. He also had 1 bundle of boodle money with one piece of genuine 500-peso bill with the serial number. RT765728.

The three suspects and the seized items were brought to the station for proper disposition and will be turned over to the San Pedro Police Station for the meantime.

The entrapment operation is a proof that government is serious in enforcing the law to protect consumers against overpricing of basic commodities amid the state of national calamity due to COVID-19 pandemic. | via RAFIS11
