The City Health Office is eyeing to implement lockdown in Zamboanga City should they find it necessary to prevent the spread of  Covid-19 here.
City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite said, if DOH will advice us and if we find it necessary “why not if that will help us control the disease”.
The statement of Miravite came amid the spread of the disease in countries outside China such as Iran and Italy.
She said, despite the felt presence of the disease in China last December 2019, the delayed decision of the Chinese government to lockdown contributed to the spread of the disease to other countries.
The city health officer said epidemiologist are studying the trend of the disease and are providing data to the government which can help the Department in making their decision.
On the possibility of local transmission, Miravite claimed, as what the DOH said ‘It is not a question of what if its going to happen? But its a question of when it is going to happen.’
Recently, CHO has cleared 24 persons under monitoring for the disease in the city.  These individuals have had a history of travel to China but did not manifest any symptoms of disease.
