29The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has revealed that they have a plan to expand limited face to face learning if students are safe.
Prospero E. De Vera III, CHED Chairperson said, 93 higher institutions already applied for the limited face to face classes.
The status of these 93 according to De Vera, are in the different stage of implementation.
The office is monitoring on what is happening on the ground. “If we see the students are safe under the guidelines, I will go back to the President and recommend to expand it.”
The CHED Chairperson said, for the University of the Philippines, College of Medicine which started their limited face to face classes last year, there were no transmission of Coronavirus Disease 2019 recorded.
Before allowing a school to have their limited face to face classes, they must comply a 24 pages guidelines, inspection by both CHED national and regional, permission from local government, Inter Agency Task Force, and the Department of Health.
He said, there are really courses which needs face to face such as medicine, nursing, clinical internships, laboratories.
Recall, President Rodrigo Duterte already allowed limited face to face learning for medicine and allied medical courses.
Possible courses to be allowed for limited face to face classes are engineering, Hotel and Restaurant Management, and Information Technology.
Meantime, while waiting, other courses which needs limited face to face classes may retrofit to qualify for the limited face to face classes.
