Bontoc residents cooperate in free RT-PCR test

A total of 1158 individuals in Bontoc Mt. Province were swabbed during the mass COVID-19 testing conducted by the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 through the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and the Bureau of Fire Protection.

January 26, 2021, the first day of free mass testing, 574 individuals from Barangays of Samoki and Tocucan availed of the free mass testing.

In the second day 146 swab specimens were collected from Sitio Lanao, 292 from Sitio Foyayeng, and 146 from Saint Vincent Elementary School (SVEH).

According to Nurse II Oliver Gacusana of the Municipal Health Office, the collected specimen will be immediately transported to the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC).

The aggressive community testing in Bontoc is to curb the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the municipality and after the discovery of the new variant of Coronavirus that infected 12 local residents.

Today mass testing will be conducted for the residents of barangays Poblacion and Caluttit at the Provincial Plaza.

Priority for the testing are frontliners; owners of business establishments and their employees; tricycle operators and drivers; uniformed personnel; government workers; senior citizens, persons with comorbidities and pregnant women. However, those who are not covered are encouraged to avail of the free RT-PCR test.

Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey again reminded everyone who have been swabbed to be on home quarantine until the release of their test result.
