THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) yesterday disclosed the arrest of a Sudanese man who is believed to be involved in human organ trafficking victimizing Saudi nationals needing kidney transplants.

In a press conference, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the suspect as Badreldin Elzaki Ibrahim El Habbib, 44.

El Habib was arrested in Makati City on Tuesday pursuant to a warrant of deportation issued by Tansingco anchored on a summary deportation order issued in 2013.

He was arrested following the request made by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) who is seeking his prosecution for organ trafficking, victimizing patients in KSA.

The BI said El Habib enticed and recruited Saudi nationals needing kidney transplants to have it in the Philippines, but ended up swindling his victims.

Prior to this, El Habib was arrested in September 2009 for carnapping  but was released after posting bail and had remained at large since then.

“His presence in the country poses as a threat to Filipinos,” Tansingco said.

The BI said it is still determining whether El Habib has other pending criminal cases in courts.

If none, the BI said he would be deported for violating the country’s immigration laws.
