La Trinidad, Benguet – Six municipalities of the province initially got the brand new patient transport vehicles and the supply of medicines from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to help in improving the delivery of basic health care services to the residents in the said places.
PCSO general manager Royena Garma and Kevin Edward See, Chief of Staff of Benguet caretaker congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap formally turned over the 2 brand new ambulances to the recipient municipalities, particularly Kapangan Mayor Manny Fermin and Bakun Mayor Bill Raymundo, while Tuba Mayor Clarita Sal-ongan was able to receive the vehicles for her municipality in Manila.
Further, Garma also turned over to La Trinidad Mayor Romeo K. Salda, Tublay Mayor Armando Lauro and Buguias Mayor Ruben Tindaan several boxes of medicines and vitamins that could be used by the local governments in intensifying the delivery of medical services to the residents living in their localities.
See clarified that Congressman Yap made the appropriate representations with the PCSO for the provision of brand-new ambulances to the 13 towns of Benguet where the initial 3 vehicles were already given to the identified recipients while the remaining 10 ambulances will be delivered and turned over to the beneficiary towns later.
He claimed that the provision of ambulances and medicines to the province’s 13 municipalities is part of Congressman Yap’s desire to equip the local governments for them to be able to delivery quality health care services to the people aside from ensuring that genuined public service will be cascaded to the grassroots level.
For his part, Mayor Fermin expressed his gratitude to PCSO officials and Congressman Yap for their consolidated efforts in allowing Kapangan to have a brand-new vehicles that they will be able to use in delivering health services to the remote villages of his municipality.
According to him, the previous ambulances that were acquired by the municipal government and provided by the PCSO are already old and could no longer go to the remote areas that is why the delivery of the new ambulance is timely and appropriate.
On the other hand, Mayor Raymundo also expressed his gratitude to PCSO and Congressman yap for helping Bakun acquire a new patient vehicle that will be able to contribute in the efforts of the municipal government to cater to the emergency needs of people and delivery to the remote communities the required medical supplies.
Raymundo added that Bakun has two existing ambulances but like Kapangan, the same are also old and could no longer be used to deliver health care services in the remotest barangays.
The Bakun mayor said that the provision of the new vehicles will surely give a boost to the efforts of the concerned government agencies and the municipal government to reach out to their constituents and help in improving the health condition of people in the countryside.
