The event’s participants, composed of surfers from all over the Philippines will compete in different categories, namely, men and women longboard open, men and women shortboard open, junior groms mixed shortboard open, and beginners with caddie.

Apart from the surfing competitions, the event also offers different activities such as sunrise yoga, Pilates class, art and photo exhibit, dirty derby moto games and fun race, and B-Town Boogie Fiesta, among others.

The first B-Town Boogie was held in 2021, which started as a small competition for the local surfers of the Municipality of Pagudpud. Following its successful inauguration, the organizers of the event aimed to improve the conduct of the event with proper judging, heat scheduling, and a priority system.

In 2023, the B-Town Boogie grew from being a local surfing competition in to a national invitational event. It gained the attention of the national surfing community, and surfers from the country’s top surf spots—Siargao, Baler, Zambales, and La Union joined the competition

This annual surfing competition remains free and open to interested surf enthusiasts, welcoming both amateurs and professionals to sign up with no registration fees.

Over the years, Ilocos Norte has been a venue for numerous sporting events both national and international, such as the Premier Volleyball League Tournament, Philippine Basketball Association All-Star Game, Region 1 Athletic Association Meet, Dragon Boat Festival Race, North Luzon Invitation Beach Volleyball 2023, Philippine National Training Camp 2019, Philippine Kiteboarding Competition, Paoay Lake International Regatta, and National Basketball Training Center-North Luzon Championship. Additionally, Ilocos Norte is set to host the upcoming 65th edition of the Palarong Pambansa in 2025.

PGIN, under the leadership of Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc sustains the expansion of the local tourism sector by partnering with sporting organizations to stage more events that will benefit host communities in the future, as well as strengthen the province’s bid as an emerging “Sports Tourism Capital of Northern Luzon.” (Allyssa Charisse Magno)
