Baguio City Braces For Typhoon Ambo

Mayor Benjamin Magalong today advised residents to brace for the onslaught of typhoon ‘Ambo’.

As of 8PM yesterday, the city had been placed under typhoon signal no. 1, according to City Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinating Council (CDRRM

The brunt of the typhoon is expected to be felt in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) including Baguio City.

Mayor Magalong mobilized the disaster preparations and response team led by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council to put in place contingency measures for the howler.

The CDRRMC operations center will be open on a 24-hour basis to respond to incidents with logistical and manpower support from the offices of the city engineer, city buildings and architecture, city general services, city environment and parks management, city police, city fire department, private emergency response, civic and communications groups and others.

The mayor however cautioned residents to prepare for the typhoon without setting aside precautions against the Coronavirus disease.

Kennon Road has been closed to traffic for all types of vehicles effective 5PM yesterday May 14, 2020 until further notice due to the landfall and possible effects of Typhoon Ambo.

Residents along the road are exempted from this restriction; however, they are strictly advised to take precautionary measures when traversing the said area.

Non-resident motorists going to and from Baguio City are advised to take Marcos Highway or Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-Rizal-Anduyan Road and Baguio-Bauang Road.
