The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and John hay Management Corporation in coordination with Local Government Units of Baguio and Benguet will be testing about 5, 500 individuals
The COVID mass testing started today for the identified high risk and vulnerable sectors to determine those individuals with possible virus and to be isolated immediately including their close contacts.
The mass testing will run until October 30.
The City of Baguio with highest COVID-19 cases in the Cordillera region were given a total of 2, 300 test kits.
The municipality of Itogon, a mining community in Benguet, recorded COVID outbreak in the past days received 1, 500 test kits.
Other municipalities in Benguet that received test kits include La Trinidad with 800, Tuba got 700, Kapangan and Sablan were allotted with 100 test kits each.
In the month of August and September, mass testing for Baguio and Benguet residents were conducted through the initiative of BCDA president and chief operating officer and COVID Testing Czar Vince Dizon, the deputy chief implementer of the administration’s policy against COVID-19.
The concerned LGU’s expressed their gratitude to the testing Czar for his support to conduct more testing to contained the spread of the coronavirus in the locality.
As of yesterday, Baguio and Benguet registered a total of 1, 028 COVID-19 active cases and 37 deaths based on the monitoring of Department of Health Cordillera.
