AARON JUDE BADO and Flint Jara beat separate opponents to line themselves up for a possible gold medal at the Asian Boxing Confederation Under-22 Championships on Monday night in Bangkok.

Bado beat Malaysia’s Qaiyum Ariffin, 5-0, in their men’s flyweight semifinal duel and will fight for the gold against hometown bet Thanarat Saengphet on Thursday.

Saengphet defeated Uzbekistan’s Mukhammadkodir Mamirjonov also by unanimous decision in their own semifinal duel.

Jara was aggressive and smart in beating Mongolia’s Ganbold Dorjnyambuu, 3-2, in a men’s bantamweight clash to barge into the final against Nursultan Altunbek of Kazakhstan.

Altunbek ousted Kyrgyzstan’s Islam Torobaev, 5-0, to advance to the gold medal play.

Featherweight Jericho Acaylar and minimumweight Mark Lester Durens lost their semifinal bouts and settled for bronze medals.

Acaylar lost to Kazakhstan’s Makhmud Sabyrkhan while Durens bowed to Uzbekistan’s Shodiyorkjon Melikuziev, both by 5-0 scores.
