Bacolod City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod is urging all business establishments in Bacolod City to periodically submit their list of job vacancies to the city Public Employment Service Office (PESO) as part of the strategy to curb unemployment and boost the job placement information system of Bacolod City.

The resolution authored by Councilor Em Legaspi-Ang said City Ordinance No. 957 or the 2021 PESO Ordinance of Bacolod City was passed last September 15, 2021, which created the Bacolod Public Employment Services Office, a division under the City Mayor’s Office.

The May 2023 Labor Force Survey released by the Philippine Statistics Authority last July 7 stated that 17,325, or 4.5 percent of the total labor force of Bacolod City are unemployed, it said.

To ensure that available job vacancies are being offered to all stakeholders in Bacolod City and nearby areas, the Sangguniang Panlungsod is urging business establishments in Bacolod City to submit their list of job vacancies to PESO, the resolution said.

The submission of the above-mentioned list will also help curb the unemployment in Bacolod City and boost the job placement information systems of the City Government of Bacolod, it added. (Chrysee Semillano via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
