Bacolod City – The implementation of a gun ban in connection with the ongoing MassKara festivities, is now in effect in Bacolod City

In an issued memorandum, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said the gun ban enforcement started October 11 and will end on the 27th of the month.

Only members of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other Law Enforcement Agencies, (LEAs) performing official duties, and in agency prescribed uniforms, are allowed to carry firearms, Marbil said in his memorandum.

The Police Regional Office 6, upon the request of the Bacolod City government and Bacolod City Police Office, requested the imposition of a gun ban during the MassKara festivity period, as part of their proactive security measures.

During this period, the carrying of firearms, even those with issued PTCFOR (Permit to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence), are prohibited.

Almost 1,900 security personnel from various law enforcement agencies have been tasked to secure the festivities.

The PNP is currently assessing the potential for signal jamming during the highlights of the festival and is awaiting intelligence validation regarding any threats to the city.

Additionally, they requested an executive order to ban drone flying at festival sites during this year’s MassKara Festival, except for those operated by the PNP and the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation. (Gilbert Bayoran via tvds)
