Bacolod feeding program institutionalized

Bacolod City – An ordinance institutionalizing the Bacolod City feeding program for undernourished children in public day care, kindergarten, and elementary schools, was passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod on its first reading recently.

The ordinance, authored by Councilor Claudio Puentevella, to be known as the “Bacolod City Feeding Program Ordinance,” will be established to address undernutrition among children in the City.

The program will have the following components and coverage: supplemental feeding program for day care children; school-based feeding program; milk feeding program; micronutrients supplements; health examination; Gulayan sa Paaralan and Barangay program; and water, sanitation, and hygiene.

The City of Bacolod will allocate for the initial implementation of the ordinance that will be sourced out the 1 percent LCPC Fund. Thereafter, such sums as maybe necessary for the continuous implementation of the ordinance will be included in the annual budget thereafter, the ordinance added.
