Troops of 30th Infantry Battalion overrun another Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army Terrorist (CNTs) hideout in the hinterlands of Sitio Puhagan, Barangay Mahanub, Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte this Wednesday.
Security operations has been conducted after receiving of reports from civilians that the CNTs were conducting extortion activities in the area.
The enemy withdrew after 30 minutes of firefight resulting to the recovery of two (2) anti-personnel mines, one bandoleer with seven (7) magazines loaded with 150 rounds for AK47, thirty six (36) poncho tent, some personal belongings and other subversive documents.
In a statement, Lt. Col. Villarosa said that “The strong resistance of the populace against Communist Terrorist is very vital in solving the insurgency. I commend their boldness and timely information that led to this encounter. Rest assured that we will do our job and hit them hard to protect the people in Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Island Province”.
“I also encourage the other members of the terrorist to avail the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government before it’s too late for them”, Villarosa added.
