Aqua-culture industry in Zampen affected by Covid-19 – ZC Mayor

Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar disclosed that due to the outbreak of Covid-19, the local aqua-culture industry in Zamboanga City.

Mayor Climaco-Salazar said local exporters of lobsters, crayfish and other sea products have been supplying these commodities to China but due to the Covid-19 alarm, orders have also been halted.

“It is the Chinese that is importing these products from this city but our local exporters are now affected since the corona virus started from Wuhan in China,” the mayor said.

The plaque brought by Covid-19 has affected almost all sectors such as airlines, hotels, restaurants, tourism and many others.

The mayor sees the need to strengthen medical measures in the event the dreaded virus enters the city

Climaco-Salazar said the representatives of the Philippine Medical Association have identified the hospital in Pasobolong and not in Labuan as the site where a Covid-19 patient should undergo treatment.

She also asked the City Health Office (CHO) and Department of Health (DOH) to provide education on health an sanitation as well health awareness to the public.

The mayor also expressed concern that the city and health department may not be prepared to carer to a contagion of a large number of patients.
