8 nabbed, P2.7-M shabu seized in 2 NegOcc cities

Eight persons, including two minors, were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in cities of Bacolod and San Carlos in Negros Occidental, yielding PHP2.725 million in suspected shabu in less than 24 hours.

In this city, John Carlo Serfino was caught red-handed selling PHP1,000 worth of the prohibited substance to an undercover policeman in Barangay Banago around 2 p.m. yesterday.

Police said the operation, conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office Drug Enforcement Team led by Col. Henry Biñas, also resulted in the recovery of 24 sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 110 grams valued at PHP1.32 million.

Arrested with Serfino was a male minor. Both are now in the custody of Police Station 3.

In San Carlos City, six persons, including a minor, were arrested in a buy-bust inside a pension house before midnight on Monday.

The police report showed that two of those arrested, Guiller Patrick Rigor, 27, and Kirk Morris Tambiga, 29, are considered high-value targets.

The four others were Rita Marie Fatima Bocateja, 22; Maxim Laurence Bayawa and Dobielyn Lebumfacil, both 20; and a 15-year-old female.

Operatives swooped down on the group inside Friend’s Place Pension Place in San Julio Subdivision, Barangay 2 around 11:30 p.m. after Rigor sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur-buyer.

Rigor yielded a total of eight sachets of shabu and one from Tambiga. Drug paraphernalia were also found in their possession.

The shabu seized weighed around 120 grams with an estimated value of PHP1.44 million.

The five were endorsed to the custody of San Carlos City Police Station while the minor was turned over by the police to the local social welfare office.(Nanette Guadalquiver NDB via PNA)
