619 Violators Of The Enhanced Community Quarantine Arrested

A total of 619 individuals were arrested in the Cordillera for violation of the strengthened Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) which started March 15, 2020.

Of the 454 arrested individuals, 429 violated the curfew hours with 24 cases filed in court, while 25 were caught for Disobedience with 10 cases filed in court.

Baguio City Police Office recorded the most number of individuals who violated the curfew and disobedience with 177 arrested followed by Benguet PPO with 137, while Mt Province recorded 78, and Abra PPO apprehended 37.

Moreover, police conducted a total of 717 operations that resulted in the arrest of 165 individuals for Hoarding, Profiteering, Overpricing of medical supplies and essential goods or items. Mt Province PPO arrested the highest number of violators with 97 arrest followed by BCPO with 67 arrests while Benguet has only one arrest.

All Local Government Units and all Law enforcement units have been imposing curfew to force the public to stay in their homes to strictly prevent the massive spread of COVID-19.

Likewise, all chief of Police were ordered to strictly supervise the inspection of all enhanced community quarantine control points to ensure the strict implementation is carried out. “Police will enforce the law as the public health was the priority of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ)” BGen R’win Pagkalinawan said.

PNP PRO Cordillera leadership is appealing to the public for their full cooperation and encourages everyone to stay calm and stay home. “We, your police force and other units are doing all we can to protect everyone from this deadly virus, but we need your outmost cooperation to protect and fight this virus” BGen Pagkalinawan added.
