Fifty Negrenses, who arrived in Negros Occidental on a sweeper flight from Manila on May 2, were sent home yesterday after completing their 14-day mandatory quarantine at Mambukal Resort in Murcia, Zeaphard Gerhart Caelian, Provincial Disaster Management Program Division chief, said yesterday.

They all tested negative for Covid-19.

Their 18 other companions who arrived on the same flight and have history of travel abroad have not been released yet, Caelian said.

The results of their Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction tests are being awaited, he said.

The 50, who were brought home to their respective towns and cities, were given quarantine clearance certificates and take out food items donated by a local pasalubong center.

Meanwhile, more stranded Negrense Overseas Filipino Workers in Manila are expected to arrive on another 2Go Malasakit Voyage early this week, Caelian said.

They have not been told how many are arriving yet, he said.*(Carla Gomez, VDS, Photo by Richard Malihan)
