Five boxes of fish caught using dynamite were seized by personnel of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) from a suspect in a fish landing port in Sibucao, Barangay Banago here recently.

A PCG-Negros Occidental report showed the fish supply came from Cadiz City and the operation was carried out by the authorities based on a tip from an informant in the northern Negros city.

The alleged owner, Anmer Dioso, 44, is a resident of Sitio Tapon, Pandanan, Sagay City.

Lt. Commander Jansen Benjamin, chief of PCG-Negros Occidental, said Dioso was released after he was issued a notice of violation and ordered to pay a fine of PHP20,000.

The suspected violator denied being the owner of the fish products, saying he was just told to bring the supply to Bacolod, Benjamin said.

Dioso was informed that he violated Section 126 of Republic Act 8550 or the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998 as amended by RA 10654.

He will face administrative charges before the BFAR 6 (Western Visayas) Adjudication Committee.
