3 Of 7 OFW Cases In NegOcc Recover From Covid-19

Three of the seven Negrense overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) after coming home to the province last month, have already recovered, records of the provincial government showed.

The latest recovery is a 29-year-old woman from La Castellana, Negros Occidental, based on the case bulletin released by the Department of Health (DOH) in Region 6 (Western Visayas) on Sunday.

The province’s Patient No. 5, who was tested positive on May 6, got negative results in her first repeat test on May 18, and in her second repeat test on May 23.

She traveled from Brazil to Manila before going home to Negros Occidental aboard 2GO Group’s Malasakit Voyage on April 28.

Earlier, two other OFWs, Patient No. 3 and Patient No. 4, who traveled from Cebu to Negros Occidental, also recovered.

Patient No. 4, a 41-year-old man from Candoni town, who is a naturalized Irish citizen, was found negative in his second repeat test on May 13; while Patient No. 3, a 38-year-old man from Silay City who traveled from The Netherlands, also received a negative result on his second repeat test on May 15.

The positive OFW cases are being isolated at the Provincial Healing Center in E.B. Magalona town while undergoing treatment, and are discharged from the quarantine facility once recovered.

Patient No. 6 is a 43-year-old man from Escalante City who traveled from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates; while Patient No. 7, a 45-year-old man from Talisay City, took a flight to the Philippines from Brazil and Qatar.

Patient No. 8, a 35-year-old man from Valladolid town, traveled to Manila from Miami, Florida; while Patient No. 9, a 27-year-old man from Bago City, journeyed from Miami to New York before going to Manila.

These four OFWs came home to Negros Occidental also aboard the Malasakit Voyage.

All seven OFWs are among the nine Covid-19 cases in Negros Occidental.

The two others are Patient No. 1, a 41-year-old woman from EB Magalona; and Patient No. 2, a 42-year-old man from La Castellana, who were also the first two recoveries. (Nanette Guadalquiver via pna)
