A total of 20,000 additional doses of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines have arrived Wednesday afternoon at Zamboanga International Airport.

Joshua Brilliantes, Department of Health (DOH) 9 Regional Director said, 10,000 doses of AstraZeneca arrived which is the first shipment to the region.

For Sinovac, it is already the second shipment  of 10,000 doses.

Brilliantes explained, the 10,000 Sinovac vaccines are intended for those health workers who received their first dose.

For AstraZeneca, this will be given for those senior citizens, those with comorbidities, and for those who choose the said vaccine.

From the airport, these vaccines were brought immediately to the DOH 9 cold storage.

Brilliantes together with the Food and Drug Administration Regional Director Annette B. Tan conducted the inspection of the vaccines at the DOH 9 cold storage facility upon its arrival at the warehouse.

Meanwhile, the invited media were only allowed to peep at the entrance gate of the Zamboanga International Airport, just like during the first arrival of vaccines in the city.  Photojournalists, Cameramen and even reports can only see the back of the officials receiving the vaccines as they (media) were kept at bay about 50 meters away.
