At least 182 overweight policemen assigned with the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) were subjected to undergo reweighing last Thursday at the Police Regional Office 9 in Barangay Mercedes, Zamboanga City.
City Police information officer Police Capt. Edwin Duco, disclosed that the obese cops, including four police officers, failed to pass the Body Mass Index (BMI) requirement set by the PNP during their weigh-in last month.
Duco claimed, if the law enforcers will again fail to pass the reweighing, they will be subjected to undergo a 15-day training as sunction.
He also said, the cops will also be denied promotion to a higher rank and will not be given the chance to undergo schooling unless they meet their body mass requirement.
Most of the policemen who failed were assigned as police visibility in the central business, Duco said. He also said that it will even affect the deployment of those personnel, referring to those obese cops.
Duco hopes that the policemen will be able to trim down their weigh as soon as possible.
