₱460-M To Complete Ifugao Irrigation Project

Alfonso Lista, Ifugao — Ifugao leaders led by Hon. Solomon Chungalao, Representative of the Lone District of Ifugao and Governor Jerry Dalipog officially broke ground on the construction of the Alfonso Lista Pump Irrigation Project (ALPIP) on October 3, 2020.

The project will irrigate a target service area of 2,300 hectares in four barangays of Alfonso Lista, namely, Sto. Domingo, Namnama, Calupaan, Namillangan.

NIA-CAR Regional Manager Benito Espique, Jr., DPWH-CAR Director Khadaffy Tanggol, Office of the Civil Defense-CAR Director Albert Mogol, and Engr. Abraham Collado of ASC Construction and Concrete Products were also present during the ground breaking.

One of the big-ticket projects of NIA-CAR, ALPIP will pump irrigation water from the Magat Dam to the service area through the construction of pump and sump intake, installation of five units of pumps, sub-station, transbasin tunnel with a length of 513 meters.

The project includes the constructions of 7.7 kilometers of main canal, 15.88 kilometers of lateral canals, 4.64 kilometers of service, project building and other facilities.

“As it is a multi-year project which is being implemented in several years, its funding was also released gradually. This year, NIA is implementing the finishing components of ALPIP amounting to P460 million pesos subdivided in seven contract packages.” Engr. Espique, Jr. said.

The ALPIP project from 2012 to 2020 has a total cost of ₱ 1.310 billion and to be completed by 2022.

To realize the clamor of the people of Ifugao for irrigation, Congressman Chungalao appealed to NIA for more funding and extension of the project to benefit the other barangays of Alfonso Lista.
