₱45.9-M Worth Of Marijuana Destroyed In Benguet

Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet – Anti-illegal drug operatives foiled the possible entry to the black market of 12 sacks of dried marijuana leaves, seeds and stalks worth over 43.3 million pesos found in the mountains at Sitio Palwa, Sagpat, Kibungan, Benguet on June 4, 2021.

According to PCOL Elmer E Ragay, Chief, Regional Intelligence Division, an operation was launched after Intel operatives got information of marijuana being cultivated in the area.

Operating troops from the Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Regional EOD and Canine Unit (RECU), PDEA-CAR and Benguet PPO discovered two plantation sites where 12,950 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants worth ₱ 2.59M were uprooted and burned on-site.

While scouring adjacent areas for other possible planting  sites, operatives found the 12 sacks of marijuana dried leaves, seeds and stalks ready to be  transported, and with total worth amounting to ₱ 43, 325,000 at a concealed area about 300 meters away from the plantations raided.

In total, ₱ 45,915,000.00 worth marijuana was destroyed during the one-day operations.
