Thousands Gather For The Official Opening Of 12thbulawan Festival And 21st Founding Anniversary Of Comval Province

Davao City— Over 11,000 registrants to the Prosperity Fun Run gave support as an opening salvo for the grand opening of the 12thBulawan Festival and 21st Founding Anniversary on March 3, 2019 at the provincial capitol grounds. The annual festival serves as an introductory welcome of the province’s week-long and exciting activities that are of tradition to the celebration.

Starting off the day, spectators experience the early morning hours of fueled energy as they follow along with the Zumba Dance, following with a welcome message by the Provincial Governor Tyron L. Uy as well as introducing the officials in attendance. In an expression of gratitude towards the partnership of public and private sectors in partnership, he also gave his thoughts on the province’s ongoing campaign for its renaming as Davao de Oro

“This is the first time naipa-strengthen nato ang public-private partnership na moving along the next Bulawan festivals. Ingon-anina atong set-up na mas daghan ma involve, ang private sectors ma involve, mas maayo ma bati nila ang atoang Bulawan festival.”

Formally opening the festival, a presentation of a traditional Chinese culture dance called the “Dragon dance” was introduced, where it is believed to be a dance that followed the spirit of the river in its culture that gives luck to those who are able to witness the movements of the dragon that demonstrates power, hard work and dignity through its flexibility and resilience.

Following the fun run, Governor Uy also officially opened the exhibits through cutting of ribbons within the areas of the capitol for visitors and the like that are open for visiting for the week-long celebration: the Bulawanong Tabuan where exhibits of the province’s local and handmade products are up for presentation, Tribal Village, De Oro Jewelry Expo, Bulawanong Tsibugan at Sugbahan sa de Oro, and the Yes to Davao de Oro Exhibit.

A concert was also held by Kapuso artists in attendance by Yasmien Kurdi, Dion Ignacio, and Juancho Trivino, for the GMA Kapuso Entertainment after an early day’s preparation, held at the capitol grounds mega tent.

Governor Uy also gave gratitude to the sponsors in association for the celebrations as they are able to help highlight the province’s advancement of services and aim for its accommodation and expansion in tourism. He also expressed his confidence for the community to participate for the province’s renaming as “Davao de Oro”, as per history that the province is primarily a part of the whole Davao region.
