Surigao: Case filed against suspect in Surigao del Norte shooting incident; another identified in Butuan City

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City – The relentless pursuit of Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 against the suspects in separate shooting incidents in Caraga has led to the filing of a case against the suspect in the shooting that took place in Alegria, Surigao del Norte and the identification of one in Butuan City.

PRO13 Director PBGEN ROMEO M CARAMAT, JR disclosed that a case of Murder under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code with docket number XIII-06-INV-22E-104 is filed against alias “Jun”, an active member of the Philippine Army and a resident of Brgy. Jaliobong, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte.

Citing the report from Alegria Municipal Police Station, Jun is identified by witnesses as the suspect in a shooting incident that transpired last May 22 (Sunday) that killed Kenneth Lubina Ugay, 24 years old, in his residence in Purok-1, Poblacion, Alegria, Surigao del Norte.

Further investigation revealed that the shooting was instigated by the victim’s relationship with the suspect’s wife despite being separated for almost two years.

“We are happy with this recent development in our investigation. Our police officers are conducting constant monitoring on the suspect’s whereabouts pending the release of the Warrant of Arrest,” RD CARAMAT JR said.

Meanwhile, Butuan City Police Station 4 has identified the suspect in a shooting and hacking incident in Brgy. Maguinda last May 20 (Friday) resulted in the killing of two people and injuring another two in their residence.

Investigation revealed that siblings Alberto M. Cervantes and Emerson M. Cervantes were hacked and shot to death by the suspect, while their two minor children sustained injuries following the assault.

“Our police are conducting a continuous investigation to provide solid evidence to file a case against the suspect. Rest assured that we will remain restless until we complete the documents needed to file a case against the suspect,” the PRO13 top cop concluded.
