Two male inmates of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) prison in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod were isolated due to chicken pox. This was according to Jail Warden Chief Inspector Ruth Estales.

“Properly managed na ang duha ka inmates, isolated na sila, wala sila na include sa general population sa sulod,” Estales said.

Estales said she has already instructed the jail nurse to coordinate with the City Health Office (CHO) for the conduct of mass immunization at the jail.

Estales said this is to prevent the measles outbreak even if there’s no reported measles at the jail.

Estales said that BJMP-Singcang Airport has a total of 660 male inmates at the jail that is supposedly good only for 100 inmates.

“Over-congested guid ya,” Estales said.

On November 14, 414 male inmates of the BJMP Male Annex Dormitory in Barangay Handumanan were immunized by the personnel of CHO following the measles outbreak at that facility. (John Dale Salazar/NDB)
