The Public Employment and Service Office (PESO) of the Bacolod city government was awarded Best PESO Employment Information System (PEIS) Implementor among cities in Western Visayas.

The award was given by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regional office at rites in Iloilo City recently.

PESO Bacolod officer-in-charge Ma. Rebecca Balicas presented the plaque, signed by DOLE-6 regional director Cyril Ticao, to Mayor Evelio Leonardia at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Balicas said the Best PEIS Implementor award is given to the city or municipality that has the highest number of registrants in the PEIS, which is under the National Skills Registry Program of DOLE.

The PEIS records the profiles, qualifications and skills of all applicants and employers registered, Balicas said, making it easier to determine the percentage of the employed, unemployed and underemployed.

Balicas said the number of PEIS registrants recorded in the PESO Bacolod office have increased because they have campaigned actively down to the barangay level, with the help of barangay officials.

Applicants who can register with the PEIS are aged 15 to 60 years old.

In 2017, PESO Bacolod was also recognized by the DOLE for “garnering the highest increase of registered jobseekers in the PEIS.”*(City PIO/NDB)
