Marawi IDPs In Davao Get Help In ‘Kalilintad 911’

DAVAO CITY-     The Task Force Davao has launched the Kalilintad 911 to help Marawi evacuees who have settled in Davao City after the military flushed out terrorists from the area in 2017.

An initiative of Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, Kalilintad 911 program is only providing temporary aid to the Marawi evacuees in the city until they return once Marawi again safe for them. Task Force Davao has estimated around 150 to 200 evacuees who have settled in Davao.

TF Davao commander Colonel Consolito Yecla on Wednesday said the main aim of the city government is to send back the evacuees to Marawi City once the situation there returns to normal.

“We want these people to be in good condition while they are here in the city. We can probably assist them in their livelihood or give their children scholarship assistance if they are studying here,” he said.

Yecla said the program was initiated by Mayor Sara so the evacuees, especially the children, for the evacuees.

“While we care for the welfare of the evacuees, this will also help the security of Davao City. We can profile the individuals and let them feel that the government is here to help them,” he said.

Kalilintad 911 spokesperson Norman Baloro said the program also aims to ensure the health of the people because it also includes medical assistance for the evacuees.

“The government is looking for ways to help these individuals. We want them to feel that they can come to us, they can approach us for their needs, while they are staying here in Davao City,” Baloro said. CIO
