The deployment of EPD personnel will commence on December 16, 2018, the start of the traditional “Simbang Gabi” of the Catholic devotees in the entire country and will continue even after the celebration of the Feast of the Three Kings on January 3, 2019.

Eastern Police District Director PCSUPT BERNABE M BALBA said “more PNP personnel in Uniform and in plainclothes will be deployed in the streets and in places of convergence as part of beefing up security for the Yuletide Season”.

The EPD is also taking into consideration, the possibility that terrorist groups and other organized criminal groups will take advantage of the situation to carry out their nefarious activities. Hence, there will be intensification of police presence through foot and mobile patrols in areas and time when they are most needed. Police Assistance Desks (PADs) will be established in strategic places and bus marshals will also be deployed. Intelligence, counter-intelligence, and police operations will also be intensified to prevent terrorist activities.

PCSUPT BALBA also called on the public to stay vigilant this Yuletide season and to report presence of suspicious-looking persons, groups, unattended bags and packages, suspicious vehicles in places of huge convergence by simply sending a message to the twitter account of EPD @epdpio or through Facebook at EPD Ang Pamamarisan or report to the nearest PADs or call the EPD Tactical Operations Center at 6410877.

The public is also advised to refrain from posting their out-of-town vacations or trips in order to avoid criminals taking advantage of their absence. Further, the public is also advised to make sure that all windows, gates and doors are properly and tightly closed before having a vacation or trip leaving the house empty.
