The following is an official statement from KBP Negros Occidental Chapter, Performance and Standards Officer, Serafin Ploteria.
The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas Negros Occidental Chapter denounces the malicious act of disseminating an alleged lists of Negros-based broadcasters involved as protectors, or otherwise of drug related operations in the province. The list which came out several days ago in certain online social media accounts and distributed by emails neither bear credibility nor veracity of information which are among the basic tenets of ethical communication.
Aside from questionable origin, the same lists are plague with inconsistencies.
Nevertheless, the KBP-Negros Occidental Chapter respects the individual actions taken by its member station or network relating to these allegations.
As the entire world celebrate the World Radio Day, February 13, KBP Negros Occidental Chapter reaffirms its commitment to the public that it will never relinquish in fighting for free access to truthful information, end proliferation of false, wrong, or fake news, and to continuously police its own rank.(KBP Release)
