Judge, Shot Dead At Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte

hile walking towards his car, Honorable Judge Reymar Lacaya, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 28, 9th Judicial Region, Brgy Baybay, Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte, was shot-dead on or around 3:04 in the afternoon, May 9, 2019.

Police Brigadier Gen. Emmanuel Luis D Licup, PRO9 Director, said that the victim was shot dead at the garage of the courthouse. When the responding team of Liloy MPS arrived at the crime scene, the victim was already bathing in his own blood flat on the floor, near his Hi-Lux pick-up.

They immediately brought him to Liloy Integrated District Health Hospital but was declared Dead-on-Arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Noel Herrera.

The initial investigation revealed, based on the statement of the security guard on duty at Bulwagan ng Katarungan, Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte,  Nathaniel Abajar Antido, judge Lacaya was about to head home to Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte. That when he was approaching to his vehicle at the garage located at the back of his quarters beside the RTC, he asked the guard to get some important documents left from his office and waited for him.

After a couple of minutes, SG Antido heard 2 gunshots from where the victim was waiting. SG Antido ran towards the parking garage and found Judge Lacaya on the floor in blood with gunshot wounds on the right parietal area of his face.

Recovered on the crime scene were 2 empty shells of calibre .45 pistol.

A hot pursuit operation is still going on for the possible identification and arrest of the perpetrators behind the death of Judge Lacaya.
