Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte- The Department of Health (DOH), in coordination with the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Provincial Health Office held a media forum on December 6, 2018 at Mibang Hotel, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte in relevance with the nationwide campaign on OPLAN IWAS PAPUTOK that is annually called for by the government because of the previous year’s high accident rates from using firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices.
One of the focal persons, Mr. Ray Vincent Ang, HEPO, Provincial Health Office showed his platform for the Iwas Paputok, Fireworks Display ang Patok as the provinces’ campaign for this years’ Holiday Season’s celebration. Under this, is their aim to conduct designated areas where firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices be put to display and used.
Police Chief Inspector Vedasto Dasmariñas announced that the PNP will be on-standby and visible during these celebrations to response on the public needs and to ensure security and safety of the people from the province of Zamboanga del Norte. He clarified that with the PNP’s own Oplan Ligtas Paskohan taken from the OPLAN IWAS PAPUTOK is to re-enforce, prevent crimes, and arrest individuals, entities or establishments that are illegally selling, manufacturing, or distributing firecrackers and pyrotechnics.
The Provincial Health Office as well, said that their medical staff will be available at any time on the Holidays to respond on incidents that may need medical assistance. Ambulance will be on standby without fees to be paid.
DOH, Provincial Health Office, ZNPPO, and the BFP advised the public to read about the contents on the Information Education Campaign posted and given out to know the Do’s and Don’ts during the Christmas and New Year.
They all added that in case of emergency incidents, just dial 911 or the Provincial Emergency Hotline to be immediately responded.(Lyza Merille Bautista)
