Cyclists from within and outside the Rinconada area made history as they tested their endurance and braved the challenge of the 1st Arriba Iriga Mountain Bike Extreme Challenge this morning at the Iriga Ceremonial Grandstand.
The Extreme Challenge officially started with an opening ceremony graced by no less than Mayor Rex C. Oliva, with Vice Mayor Edsel Dimaiwat, along with the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod: Hon. Dandreb Abonite, Hon. Melnan Murallo, Hon. Nikki Lagrimas, Hon. Jeff Tino, and SK Federation Head Hon. Michael Samarita.
Event sponsors, such as Ngo and Sons and Soven General Merchandise, provided numerous prizes for raffle draw winners. Prizes include tumblers, bicycle spare parts, and bicycle gear. Even a smart watch, courtesy of ComWorks Iriga, was given to the oldest cyclist who joined the Challenge. The top 3 placers of the Fun Ride categories of the extreme cycling event were awarded with medals and trophies while top 3 placers of the other categories were also given cash prizes.
As one of the major events for the 54th Iriga City Charter Anniversary, the 1st Arriba Iriga Extreme Mountain Bike Challenge was facilitated by the Unit for Sports Development Office led by Mr. Bienvy Gonzales with full support of the Local Government Unit, and the generosity of the Event’s sponsors.
