Dipolog: Region IX hosts Batch 14 Prospective ADROs Practicum

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) thru its Central Office and Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Zamboanga del Norte in partnership with the Conflict Resolution (CoRe) Group Foundation, Inc. hosted the practicum of prospective Alternative Dispute Resolution Officers (ADRO) Batch 14 at Mibang Hotel, Sta. Filemona, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte on August 21-27, 2022.

The weeklong activity was participated by 37 prospective ADROs from the selected DENR offices nationwide who underwent extensive training conducted by CoRe group with the intention of providing the participants with practical knowledge to develop the mindset and skills on mediation through non-adversarial communication. This, to result in successful land and forestry disputes and conflicts resolution in the department and aid in unclogging the countless docketed cases in court.

On August 26, at PENRO Zamboanga del Norte compound, the ADROs were given real land cases to apply the knowledge they learned throughout the training. 29 land cases under CENROs Piñan, Manukan and Liloy were handled by the Batch 14, wherein 3 cases under CENRO Piñan were amicably settled.

On the closing program, a written message was read by PENRO Cidur S. Julsadjiri  in behalf of ARD of Technical Services and OIC, RED Ronald D. Gadot, where he quoted, “ADR proves to be effective in eliminating undue delays in the resolutions of cases in the department. With the conduct of this practicum, the knowledge and skills acquired by the ADROs will greatly help in the delivery of an effective and efficient services to the people especially in the land matter cases.”

PENRO Cidur likewise lauded the ADROs for their dedication and pleaded that they will internalize the value of ADR to help the people and the department. He also expressed his deep gratitude for choosing Zamboanga del Norte to be the venue of their activity.

ADR program was institutionalized in the department pursuant to DENR Administrative Order (DAO) No. 2005-18 which mandates the adoption of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) principles and procedures in the resolution of appropriate environment and natural resources conflict.
