Davao City – The City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) is rehabilitating the city government’s seven home facilities to make them more comfortable for people in distress and senior citizens.

CSSDO chief Maria Luisa Bermudo said the rehabilitation of the facilities is aimed at making the residents of the facilities feel more comfortable during their therapy phase.

She said the city has allocated P50 million to enhance the seven facilities – Bahay Pag-asa; Balay Dangupan; Sidlakan Center; Co-SuGian Center for Elderly; Lingap Center for Mentally Challenged Children; Paginhanwaan Drop-in Center for Children; and Quick Response Team for Child Center.

“We took those children or adults away from their home because of some conflicts, we want them to feel at home through improving our facilities even if they are with people that they just met,” Bermudo said.

Among the improvements that will be introduced is a school building at the Bahay Pag-asa and Balay Dangupan for the continuing education of the children of said facilities.

“We want our children to have an avenue to learn even inside the center. We want them to continue their education,” she said.

The project is in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), which pledged to assign teachers for the children in the said facilities.

The CSSDO targets to finish all the construction of the improvements before July. CIO
