MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, June 18 — Tingco-tingco Boat and Fishing Project of Kahugpungan sa Masilakong Mangingisda (KASAMMA) Organization of Sagay and Axel Salise’s Pisonet Project earned awards and recognition during the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Awards held at Heritage Hotel in Manila.
KASAMMA bagged the first place in the group categories on the search for the Best DOLE-assisted Livelihood Projects in the entire country, topping 15 other regional nominees.
KASAMMA President Fernando Ocaba received the award with the DOLE-X Regional Director Lawyer Joffrey M. Suyao together with Sagay Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Edgar Dagaraga. Ocaba also received the first place cash prize of Php100,000 and Php50,000 for being the regional winner.
Meanwhile, the PisoNet project of Axel Salise won second place in the individual category, besting other 15 regional nominees. Salise received Php40,000 and PhP30,000 cash prize as the second place regional winner.
Both nominees were also awarded the best video documentation.
KASAMMA was financially assisted by DOLE in the amount of Php400,000 and the Piso Net Project with Php10,000 start-up capital.
The awarding ceremonies were graced by DOLE Undersecretaries Joel Maglungsod and Ciriaco Lagunzad, Assistant Secretary Ma. Gloria A. Tango and a number of bureau directors of DOLE. Congressman Rolando Batoail served as the keynote speaker during the ceremonies. (DOLE-Camiguin/PIA10)
