A businessman and his wife were shot by motorcycle-riding men inside their car at the parking lot of Redemptorist Church in Bacolod City at about 8:30 last night.
Police Station 2 report identified the victims as Alex Yao, 57 years old, and his wife Maria Teresa.
Alex succumbed to bullet wounds, about an hour after the crime, at a nearby hospital. His wife remains confined.
The Yaos just came out of the church, boarded their car and were about to leave the church compound parking lot along B.S. Aquino Drive in Barangay 5 when fired upon by armed men on a motorcycle.
Both were rushed to the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial (Riverside) Medical Center.
The Yao couple is engaged in foreign exchange and lending business.
They were at the church last night reportedly for their usual roles in a church organization.
Policemen are still conducting further investigation to determine the motive of the killing and to establish the identities of the suspects.* (Arman P. Toga,NDB)
