Bacolod: Senate committee approves TLJPH upgrade

Bacolod City – The Senate Committee on Health, chaired by Senator Christopher “Bong” Go approved yesterday, House Bill No. 10463, authored by Third District Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez, that increases the bed capacity of Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, Negros Occidental, from 100 to 300.

Benitez thanked Senator Christopher Lawrence Go, chairperson of the Senate committee on Health, for the support of HB 10463, that seeks to upgrade the TLJPH.

“Our bill is closer to becoming a law! HB No. 10463 is an important measure to enhance the capacity of the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital to address the health care needs of Negrosanons,” Benitez said in a statement.

The measure specifies that the authorized bed capacity of the TLJPH shall be increased from 100 beds to 300, and any future increase in bed capacity shall be consistent with the hospital development plan that will be prepared by the TLJPH hospital chief and submitted to the Department of Health.

The provincial government, meanwhile, shall provide the necessary funds for maintenance and other operating expenses and appropriate funds for additional human resource. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star, photo courtesy of Negros News Daily)
