This was after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the ₱ 24.4 million flood control project in the coastal barangay, where the tourist destination Tomongtong Mangrove Eco-Trail is located.

In a statement, DPWH-WV regional director Nerie Bueno, said the 1,112 lineal meter revetment wall is expected to prevent flash flooding hazards in the coastal areas in E.B. Magalona.

Undertaken by DPWH Negros Occidental 1st District Engineering Office, the flood control project consists of 988 lineal meters of stone masonry, 124 lineal meters of rubble concrete, and 124 lineal meters of metallic coated gabions.

EB Magalona local officials also expressed gratitude for the completion of the project as it would alleviate the concerns of Tomongtong residents during extreme weather conditions, especially fishermen, and also safeguard the Tomongtong Mangrove Eco-Trail tourist destination area in the barangay.
