Bacolod CDRRMO Conducting Fire- Preparedness Training For 61 Barangays

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) of Bacolod City, in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection – Bacolod and Liga ng mga Barangay, is conducting an ongoing Community Fire-Preparedness Training for all 61 barangays of the city.

Executive Assistant Jose Maria Vargas, head of cluster on DRRMO, said the capability-building training, slated from March 5 to 19, is in observance of March as Fire Prevention Month.

Vargas said the training is a pro-active approach in building the disaster-resiliency of the community by promoting among the residents immediate response through self-help in order to minimize, if not prevent, the damaging effects of fire incidents.

CDRRMO administrative officer Bernadeth Montelibano said they expect to gather 740 participants from community volunteers, and barangay officials and staff for the whole duration of the trainings.

Topics include Chemistry of Fire (How Fire Occurs), How to Use A Fire Extinguisher, How to Put Off Fire from LPG, Fire- Preparedness Tips and Basic First-Aid.

Meanwhile, the remaining trainings and venues are scheduled on:

March 14 – Batch 13—Barangays 16, 34, 35, and 36 at the Brgy. 35 Gym; Batch 14—Singcang & Tangub at the Brgy. Tangub Gym

March 15 – Batch 15— Barangays Pahanocoy, Sum-ag, and Punta Taytay at the Barangay Sum-ag Gym; Batch 16—Barangays Cabug, Handumanan, and Felisa at the Barangay Handumanan Gym

March 19—Batch 17— Barangays Estefania, Granada, and Alangilan at the Barangay Alangilan Gym; Batch 18— Barangays Alijis, Mansilingan, and Vista Alegre at the Barangay Mansilingan Gym
