₱ 42.4-M Drugs Seized In Bacolod

More than P42.4 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in various police operations conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) since January this year, police records showed.

As of Dec. 23, 2018, a total of 2,828 grams of shabu were confiscated with an estimated value of P42.299 million.

The data included 2,788.8 grams worth P41.833 million recovered between Jan. 1 and Dec. 19 as well as the 39.72 grams amounting to P595,800 seized from Dec. 20 to 23. During the period, a total of 280.4857 grams of marijuana were confiscated with a total value of P64,511.71.

Police records showed that from Dec. 20 to 23, anti-drug operatives conducted six operations where nine suspects were arrested, including three high-value targets and six newly-identified drug personalities.

All suspects are facing charges for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), and Section 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

A consolidated report covering the period Jan.1 to Dec. 19, 2018 showed that anti-drug personnel conducted 418 operations and arrested 637 suspects. These included 33 high-value targets, 60 street level targets, and 544 newly-identified drug personalities.

A total of 1,092 cases were filed against the suspects for violation of RA 9165.

In the first six months, the BCPO recorded 813.38 grams of shabu seized and valued at P12.2 million.

On May 24, two high-value targets, Ramy Poja and Roberto Lim, were killed during a police operation in Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago.

Among the biggest drug hauls this year were recorded in August, including the P5.1 million worth of shabu seized from a newly-identified drug personality in Barangay Singcang-Airport, the P1.44 million in shabu recovered from two suspects in Barangay 4, and the P1.02 million of the same prohibited substance seized from four high-value personalities also in Barangay Singcang-Airport.
